Task sequence variables can be leveraged within an SCCM task sequence to perform conditional branching and execution on SCCM Task Sequence Tasks and Groups, allowing us to execute tasks only on specific computers based on something identifiable about that computer.
SCCM is a beast. It is a software deploying, application packing, OS installing, and cappuccino making machine (currently in testing, expected in System Center 2015). This complexity can make it difficult to use, especially when you just want to deploy an application. By linking applications to ...

It is sometimes needed to configure complex conditions when engineering a System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) task sequence (TS). You can add a condition or conditions to a TS step or a group of TS steps. In this post I illustrate by example adding nested conditions.
Oct 10, 2008· Learned a cool trick this week for building SMS/SCCM collections that will return a list of computers that "do not have something". Building a collection that returns a group computers with a particular file or program on them is easy enough. You create a …
Migrating Collections from Configuration Manager 2007 to Configuration Manager 2012 Beta 2 One thing that a lot of ConfigMgr. admins has spent hours on, is the collection design in CM2007 (or they should have spent the hours).
My SCCM 2007 collection hierarchy is four collections deep. Nested at the bottom is a test collection of systems. Each collection has a maintenance window. The test collection and the collection above it, collection 1, have Thursday maintenance windows. Collection 2 has a Friday maintenance window and collection 3, one on Saturday.
Having been through quite a few CM migrations over the past few years, one of the things that I have seen heavily used in previous versions is nested collections, which had a similar functionality in SCCM as nested groups in Active Directory.
Having a successful dynamic OSD environment means leveraging the power of the task sequence, some back-end technologies, and some other automation methods such as MDT, PowerShell or System Center Orchestrator.
This is because System Center Configuration Manager 2012/2016 uses small TFTP block sizes of 512 bytes. This behavior is set because it's compatible with all network configurations; but the result is that the PXE boot speed can be very slow using Operating System Deployment with SCCM.
Administrators do have the need to deploy stuff to a collection or even multiple collections at one click (selection of SCCM objects like packages and task sequences) from within the console. Currently it is a burden to deploy like 20 task sequences or packages to a collection.

SCCM/ConfigMgr dynamic collection query can be real evil in some scenarios. It's very easy to make mistakes while editing already existing dynamic queries. It's better with device based dynamic collections (as it gives a warning pop up as you can see in the above video!) in SCCM CB environment but it's not very good user […]
We create a query based collection to deploy to the users of the AD Software group. What I would like to do is add another group into that AD Software group rather than add all the users individually of a group to the Software Group.
In SCCM 2012 under Assets and Compliance right click on Device Collections and Select Create Device Collection. Input the General Information, but BEWARE of the Limiting Collection! If you put in a default collection then any security you grant that collection is pretty much null and void.
Subselect Query for SCCM Queries or Collections (WQL) By Garth Jones Today's blog post will show you how to create a subselect query for WQL, and we will find which PCs do not have Microsoft Project 2010 installed.

May 30, 2018· Daisy chain Task Sequences (OSD and non-OSD) I would like to see the ability to launch one task sequence from within another task sequence. For some processes, you run the same steps across multiple deployments.
In SCCM, users and computers are put into Collections. The members of a collection are either manually added or added based on rules that query the SCCM database for things such as AD group membership. There are a ton of ways you can define rule based collections. I actually wish the documentation provided more real world examples on this topic.

A new task sequence step was introduced in ConfigMgr 1710 that allows you to call one task sequence from another task sequence. This has been referred to as nested task sequences, parent-child task sequences, and several other names.
